Instructions for creating a poster in PowerPoint

  1. In a blank PowerPoint presentation, click the Design tab.  


     
  2. Click Slide Size, then select Custom Slide Size from the menu options.


     
  3. Enter 48 inches for the width and 36 inches for the height.  Make sure the orientation is set to Landscape.  Click OK.


     
  4. Design your poster.  
  5. When finished, save it as a .pptx (PowerPoint) file.  If you are submitting this to Northwestern's Celebration of Research, please submit the .pptx file.  If you are printing the poster for another project, you may also want to save it as a .pdf.

For these templates, be sure to download the correct size -- remember, 48" width, 36" height.

We've also created a very basic template for you to use.  Feel free to play around with the background and boxes to make it more relevant to your topic.

You are not required to include the Northwestern College logo on your poster.  If you wish to, download a transparent logo file below
