Physics, Philosophy and Faith

This paper is based on your reading of God and the New Physics by Paul Davies and Designed to Evolve by Christopher S. Davis. Center your paper around a personally interesting and relevant thesis. Use the books directly or as a platform to pursue a particular topic introduced within their pages.

Requirements:

• Summarize the two books
• Compare the arguments in both books
• Discuss how your view compares to the views presented in the books

Answer the following questions:

• Can science and faith be compatible? Explain with evidence
• How old is the earth/universe? Why? Defend your position with evidence (empirical, theological, etc.)
• Did reading these books change your views or challenge your views? 

This paper is based on your reading of Where the Conflict Really Lies: Science, Religion, and Naturalism by Alvin Plantinga. You may focus exclusively on one of the four parts in the book in your paper, although you will need to read the whole book.

Your paper should:

• Summarize the book focusing on one of the parts of your choice
• Critique the arguments presented in the part of your choice
• Compare Plantinga's arguments to supporting and to opposing views within the realm of philosophy, science, and or theology

You paper should center around an interesting thesis that is personally interesting and relevant. It needs to address the following:

• The integration of faith within academic disciplines, in particular STEM
• A detailed analysis of the impact or bias of philosophical views on empirical analysis

This paper is based on your reading of the Creator and the Cosmos: How the Latest Scientific Discoveries Reveal God by Hugh Ross. Your paper will evaluate Ross's approach to scripture which is called concordism.

Your paper should:

• Summarize the book
• Analyze the concordist approach to interpreting scripture and modern science

Your paper should answer the following questions:

• Is moden cosmology compatible with Christian faith? Why? Defend with evidence.
• How should Christians balance scripture and cosmology?
• How did this book challenge you?
• What is your view on the age of the universe? Why?
