Kinesiology literally means "the study of movement". It is a biological science that particularly pertains to humans. It is a highly interdisciplinary science which encompasses the biological components of human movement, including but not limited to: anatomy, physiology, neurology, biochemistry and biomechanics. Kinesiology is applied to research and the practice of fields of study such as physical and occupational therapy, chiropractic, sports medicine, exercise physiology, sports psychology, orthopedics, athletic training, sports management and physical activity.
