PSY 360: Psychopathology

Use the thesaurus included in the ProQuest psychology databases to narrow in on the correct terms to use. For example, if you wanted to research social anxiety disorder, it's good to check what terms the APA uses for the condition.  Here's how to do it:

In one of the psychology databases (such as PsycARTICLES), click the Advanced Search link at the top of the page.​

On the Advanced Search screen, click Thesaurus.  

 

In the search window, search for your term and click the Find button.

 

Note the results.  For this example, APA uses the term social phobia.
